A walk/run is a great way to get active and involved in your local community this holiday season. Register for a leisurely 5k or a highly competitive race to end the year or kickoff 2016.
Elf Run
When: Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, 8:30 a.m.
Where: Brookfield Central High School, Brookfield, Wisconsin
The Elf Run benefits childhood cancer research and includes an easy course on beautiful Brookfield roads. Registered runners receive a custom race bib, chip-timed results, moisture-wicking event shirt, water, fruit and cookies at the finish line. Medals are also distributed to top ten finishers in each age group.
Wells Fargo Santa Scamper
When: Tuesday, Nov. 24th, 2015, 6:25 p.m.
Where: The corner of College Avenue and State Street in downtown Appleton
The Wells Fargo Santa Scamper is a free one mile race event occurring before the annual Appleton Christmas Parade. Participants receive a free Wells Fargo Santa Scamper hat, a coupon for a free Dairy Queen Dilly Bar and a coupon for a free Burger King Big Whopper.
Kewaskum’s Turkey Trot for Kids 5K Run/Walk
When: Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, 8:00 a.m.
Where: 1010 Fond du Lac Avenue, Kewaskum, WI 53040
Sponsored by Finish Line Training LLC, a new and improved course takes you through the Kewaskum village with themed prizes for top finishers. Registration is $25 for individuals and $80 for a family of four.
Reindeer Romp
When: Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, 8:00 a.m.
Where: Malone Park, New Berlin, Wisconsin
Sponsored by the New Berlin Prospect Lion’s Club, the second annual Reindeer Romp is open to all ages including dogs, with all proceeds benefiting the New Berlin Christmas parade. Registration is $35 and includes a t-shirt, Christmas ornament and treats from local businesses.
2015 Noodleini 15k/5k Run/Walk
When: Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, 8:00 a.m.
Where: West De Pere High School, De Pere, Wisconsin
This two-part race features a 15k or 5k with prizes for top finishers. Registration ranges from $15 to $20, depending on age, and participants receive food provided by Noodles & Company, a dri-wick long sleeve shirt and a free certificate for a main entree at Noodles & Company in Oshkosh, Appleton or Green Bay.
Sleigh Bell Run/Walk
When: Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, 10:00 a.m.
Where: Kiel Middle School, 502 Paine St, Kiel, Wisconsin
The Kiel Sleigh Bell Run/Walk supports Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties, as well as the Kiel High School Cross Country Teams. The event’s Reindeer Games are available for kids including a 100-yard dash and a 0.25 mile run.
Race for the Light
When: Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, 4:30 p.m.
Where: Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh, Wisconsin
Hosted by the Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services, the 13th annual Race for the Light features a route that takes runners through the Celebration of Lights display in Oshkosh at nearby Menominee Park with over one million lights.
Santa’s Dash Away 5K
When: Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, 8:30 a.m.
Where: Check-in near Santa’s Workshop and the Interurban Trail in Cedarburg, Wisconsin
All proceeds benefit the Cedarburg Christmas Committee, which coordinates Santa’s Workshop in downtown Cedarburg each year. Registration is $25 per participant and runners are encouraged to done festival holiday wear for the race!
The Frozen Otter Ultra Trek
When: Saturday, January 16, 2015, 10:00 a.m.
Where: Mauthe Lake Picnic Area, Campbellsport, Wisconsin
Not for the faint of heart, the Frozen Otter Ultra Trek has a 25% completion rate making it one of the toughest races in the Midwest. Participants must complete 64 miles of hilly Wisconsin terrain in 24 hours. Those who finish the race are dubbed members of the “Frozen Few.”
