Free bath remodel for U.S. Bronze Star recipient, Norman Bodway

According
to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 5.5 million U.S. veterans are living with
a disability; many facing everyday challenges such as bathing. This Veterans
Day, Tundraland Home Improvements, a Wisconsin-based home remodeling
company that specializes in baths, replacement windows, is leading an
initiative that brings together 10 home improvement companies from across the
country on an initiative called Baths for the Brave. This one-day special
event is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 8, and will provide 10 veterans from
across the country, including Norman Bodway from Appleton, Wisconsin, with a
brand-new tub or shower system to help improve the lives of those who
sacrificed so much for our country.

Bodway is a retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in the Korean War from
1951 to 1953. He was awarded a Bronze Star by the U.S. military for his many
acts of bravery during that time including saving the life of a fellow marine
whose arm was severed during combat.

“I am incredibly appreciative to Tundraland and the whole Baths for the Brave
team,” Bodway said. “To know that my sacrifices have not gone unnoticed and
have not been forgotten, and that my wife and I can bath without fear of injury
or fear of losing our independence in our own home, is truly a relief.”

“No one should
have to worry about falling in their own tub or shower, especially our
country’s heroes, which is why we are setting out to tell the stories and change
the lives of veterans throughout the country,” Brian Gottlieb, president and
owner of Tundraland Home Improvements and founder of Baths for the Brave, said.

Baths for the Brave stemmed from a similar initiative Gottlieb and his team at
Tundraland created called Tundraland Cares. Through Tundraland Cares, Gottlieb
has provided veterans in need and deserving families with remodeled bathrooms,
standing wheelchairs and family vacations to Disney World, all free of charge.
“Giving
back is a fundamental way of life for us at Tundraland,” Gottlieb said. “It’s
more than what we do; it’s who we are. Our whole team is on board and
passionate about it, so growing this program nationwide and leading the charge
was something we were all very excited about. We’re thankful our partnering
home improvement companies have similar values. Our hope is this initiative
continues to grow so we may serve even more veterans in the years to come.”

Additional
participating companies include:
Alenco Home Improvement; Lenexa, Kan., Brytons Home Improvement; Winterville, N.C., Fairbanks Construction; Ocala, Fla., Hullco; Chattanooga, Tenn., MaxHome; New Orleans, La., NEWPRO Home Improvement; Woburn, Mass., Reborn Cabinets Inc.; Anaheim, Calif., Tiger Bath Solutions; Bolingbrook, Ill., West
Shore; Mechanicsburg, Pa.

“The other really awesome thing about Baths for the Brave is that these remodels are happening simultaneously across the country with all of the participating companies capturing parts of the installs in real time via Facebook Live so the public can follow along with our veterans and their stories,” Gottlieb said.
