In Summer of 2014, Tundraland Home Improvements was one of the main sponsors of a local Artisan Music Festival held along the stretch of one of Appleton’s main streets. Throughout the 4 day event, attendees were challenged to sing in the shower displays that were setup near the festival with hopes to get 250 people to participate. If that goal was reached, Tundraland would sponsor a year in music school for a lucky recipient.
The community responded with great effort which propelled the search for a deserving candidate to send to music school. We asked for community members 18 years of age and younger to submit an essay explaining how music has impacted their life. After an overwhelming number of essays were sent in, a winner was chosen.
Sixteen year old Jordan Oudenhoven told the story of his connection with music through his Grandpa who had passed away but was the one to first introduce Jordan to guitar. Jordan received a year’s worth of music lessons at Heid Music in Appleton, as well as a brand new guitar of his choice.
