Who Were the Jacuzzis?
Originally from Italy, the Jacuzzi family immigrated to California in the early 1900s. After arriving in the United States, the Jacuzzis worked as inventors for a number of years and earned recognition for developing the world’s first submersible pump. In 1956, in an effort to relieve a family member’s rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, the Jacuzzis invented a portable hydrotherapy pump that could turn any bathtub into a spa (the J-300).
