Baths for the Brave: A Heartfelt Tribute to Our Veterans

Four workers get ready for a Baths for the Brave project. At Tundraland, we believe in the power of community, and we’re dedicated to giving back to those who’ve sacrificed so much for our nation. That’s why we proudly participate in Baths for the Brave, a partnership that unites ten home improvement companies from across the United States in a shared mission: to honor and improve the lives of deserving veterans.

A Day of Unity to Make Lives Better

Every year on Thursday, November 10th, Tundraland comes together with home improvement companies all over the country to remodel baths or showers for veterans in just one day. The aim is simple, yet profound: to provide veterans with a higher quality of life and the precious gift of independence.

Serving Those Who Have Served Us

At Tundraland, we deeply understand the value of service. To us, success means delivering quality products and friendly service to our customers to ensure they keep coming back. But this time, we wanted to take our dedication to service a step further by extending that same high standard of quality and service to those who’ve put their lives on the line for our country.

The Heartwarming History

Baths for the Brave began with a local initiative by Tundraland Home Improvements in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. We firmly believe that a company can do well while doing good, and this philosophy led to the creation of “Crash the Bath,” an event where we surprised a deserving veteran with a life-changing shower remodel.

In May 2016, the life of a Desert War veteran, Mike Alsteen of Green Bay, Wisconsin, was forever transformed. Mike, who battles Multiple Sclerosis (MS), had been struggling to use a bathroom that was not handicap accessible.

Tundraland learned of Mike’s challenges and knew that we could make a positive difference in his life. The company gave Mike and his family the VIP treatment, treating them to a day filled with surprises while our skilled crews remodeled his shower.

The first stop was iconic Lambeau Field, where the group enjoyed an on-field tour of the NFL landmark and lunch at the 1919 Kitchen and Tap restaurant. The day continued with a tour of the Hall of Fame and culminated at the Resch Center, Green Bay’s largest entertainment venue. There, Mike was welcomed onto the ice by the Green Bay Gambler’s hockey team and witnessed the big reveal of his newly handicap-accessible bathroom.

This heartwarming event marked the genesis of Baths for the Brave, which has now expanded into a national initiative involving multiple like-minded home improvement companies. Each of these companies is committed to using American-made products to remodel a shower for deserving veterans, changing their lives for the better and providing them with peace of mind and independence in their own homes.

This year, Tundraland is proud to be remodeling bathrooms for three veterans around the area. Baths for the Brave embodies our unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of our veterans and thanking them for their dedicated service. We’re proud to be part of this initiative, and we’re excited to continue this heartfelt journey, one bathroom at a time.
